Laker Kitchens Process
Consultation
Enjoy a personalised design consultation. During this session, we’ll assess your lifestyle, space, taste, and budget, gaining an understanding of how everyone in your household uses the kitchen. This helps us identify your requirements and pinpoint the collection and combination that will best suit you and your space.
Budget Sense Check
Once we’ve identified your preferred collection and combination, we conduct a straightforward budget sense check to ensure our proposal is feasible. We are upfront and honest about costs from the outset, ensuring you know what to expect and allowing us to work in close partnership, all on the same page.
Concept Design & Proposal
When we’re confident that we can deliver within your budget, we put together a detailed proposal, including a concept design to give you an idea of your finished kitchen. After you’ve reviewed and accepted our proposal, we move to the concept and sample review stage.
Concept & Sample Review
At this stage, we review the design, specification, and budget, discussing in detail how the kitchen will look and function in your daily life. Instead of expecting you to imagine different kitchen surfaces and colours, we bring a selection to you. We’ll visit your home with a range of materials, fixtures, and fittings so that you can see, feel, and understand how they’ll look and work in your space.
Appointing Laker Kitchens
To commence the process, a small initial payment is required. This covers detailed drawings and the on-site technical survey, which ensures the proposed works are viable in your space. We also prepare a bespoke sample pack so you can experience the finishes in your own environment.
Detailed Design
Here, we dive into the details, and you’ll start to see what your finished kitchen will look like. Through our tried and tested design process, utilising our technical survey results, we bring your vision to life. This includes final touches such as colours, accessories, and lighting. Before sign-off, we’ll review every little detail with you to ensure we’re all ready to move forward.
Sign Off
Once you’re completely satisfied with your detailed design, we place your order, schedule the installation date, and initiate Laker Kitchens project management.
Schedule of Works
Next, we provide you with a detailed schedule of works, shared with everyone involved in the project to ensure responsibility and efficiency. With years of experience managing projects involving designers, contractors, and architects, we understand the priorities for each party and how to simplify the process for everyone. That’s why we handle the project management role.
Detailed Contractor Drawings
These comprehensive documents ensure all contractors know the exact placements and measurements of every element, from cabinets and shelving to plug sockets and plumbing outlets. These drawings help reduce risks, keep the project on track time-wise, and make everyone’s tasks easier.
Contractor Liason
Kitchen installations require a lot of coordination and specialised skills, making it vital for someone to take charge and responsibility. You don’t have the time for that, so we handle it for you. We don’t play the blame game; instead, we ensure everyone works together towards a common goal. Often, issues are resolved before you even know about them.
Pre-Install Survey
We conduct pre-install surveys to mitigate the risk of project delays. Approximately 90% of the time, adjustments are needed during the pre-install survey. If your kitchen fitter arrives and something is out of place, it might necessitate a pause until the problem is resolved. This could mean more time in alternative accommodation or a delayed kitchen for the holidays.
The Installation
Every kitchen we build goes through a meticulous 127-point checklist, refined over many years. This process ensures that no detail is overlooked and that potential problems are identified and resolved before they become issues.
Annual Check In
We are confident in the durability of our kitchens, but we conduct annual check-ins just to be sure. We’ll email you to see how you’re getting on with your kitchen and make any minor adjustments needed. This service continues for 10 years.
Welcome to Laker Kitchens, a company that was born from the knowledge and experience I gained from working for over 30 years in the kitchen industry, the first 15 years in kitchen installation. It was here that my love of kitchens began and, where I identified first-hand when kitchen designs were often failing to achieve optimum results for the client. Years later, when I moved into the kitchen design and sales field, I soon discovered the limitations of many kitchen providers in terms of their product range, colour selection and size availability. It was these factors, coupled with the hard sell/high pressure sales tactics, sadly still employed by some within the marketplace, that was the inspiration behind Laker Kitchens. Ultimately a kinder and a more exciting new kitchen shopping experience, where each client is delivered the same level of commitment by us in achieving their dream kitchen, whatever the size of their kitchen space and whatever their budget and, where the only limitation that exists is what lies in our imagination.

We appreciate that purchasing a new kitchen is a major investment to a home, and as such decisions on how you want it to look should not be rushed, we want our clients to LOVE their new kitchen. Here at Laker Kitchens, we pride ourselves on providing client’s with more than one idea for their kitchen space, so our design selection, which will submitted to you within one week of the home visit will include where possible a bonus design, one that without fail generates the most excitement amongst our clients and, is the design regularly chosen for their new kitchen, the ‘WILD CARD’.

Laker Kitchens will bring the showroom to you, so that you can see and feel the quality and texture of furniture and, make your colour choices in the environment and lighting for which the furniture is intended, larger showroom displays are available to view by appointment if required. We are proud to work in association with a network of furniture makers located throughout the UK, which enables us to not only deliver the highest quality craftsmanship of kitchen, bedroom and home/office doors and cabinetry, but also the widest choice in finishes, form and price ranges. As well as meeting both modern and traditional ideals we can provide speciality finishes including, Ceramic, Porcelain, and Glass, the true Handle-less kitchen using Blum, and the latest in curved kitchen design, see our Curvature by Design range. If opting for wood, with either a matt or gloss finish, you will have available to you an ‘open’ colour palette, with the option of having your furniture made to match any paint shade chosen from any paint chart. Doors and cabinetry can also be made bespoke to meet your exact size requirements, providing a totally tailor-made new kitchen shopping experience and, a kitchen truly unique to your home.

APPLIANCES AND INSTALLATION
We can supply ALL BRAND Appliances, which will be professionally installed by qualified electricians/gas safe technicians. We will project manage each new kitchen installation, with three visits made during the fit at key stages, on commencement to ensure all materials/furniture present, mid-way and near completion, to ensure the smooth running of the project.
